Sarah said she has noticed a bit of a spring in my step recently. We now have David and Valerie and family back up in the north. They are getting settled and David is getting up to date and starting to get involved in the Komba project again. It’s great having him back, getting his perspective and energy and ideas for literacy and program management. He did successfully complete his master’s degree. The guys in the office enjoy calling him ‘Master!’ Valerie and the kids seem very ready and excited about tackling life here in Ghana. Psalm 133 …like precious oil poured on the head running down on the beard, running down on Aarons beard…

Should travel with camera
Aug 19
This time of year in Ghana in the month of August it is good to travel with the camera. Yesterday I was riding the motorcycle taking the trip from Nasuan to Gbintiri (28 km journey). It has been raining heavily recently. Last year at this time we had a chief’s meeting that nearly got rained out. Well the road was in miserable shape, but the rain had stopped for two days and I needed to get to the office. So I went. Not even a quarter mile outside of Nasuan I came to a muddy spot that had a puddle in the middle of the road. I skirted the puddle only to hit a muddy bog. The moto sank 3/4 of the way up to both wheels and died. I stepped down and sunk into the mud up my ankles. A little boy was there to witness and came over to help me pull the moto out. I let go of it and it just stood straight up in the mud. — Wish I had a camera so you could see it posted on line. The young boy and I were able to pull the moto out and I continued on this time going straight through the puddle which though wet at least I did not sink. Along the way I got many knowing looks (and a few smirks) from everybody I passed by who saw my mud caked feet. Apart from that little snafu, the trip went well.
