LBT on YouTube

Lutheran Bible Translators has a channel on YouTube. You might consider checking it out and watching some of the videos. Here is an example:

A S-s-surprise Guest S-s-sneaks into S-s-school

Karissa was sitting on the back porch with Nathan doing her school work. I was working in the office on the computer. Suddenly I heard Karissa start shrieking. A six foot snake had slithered into the back porch, right past Aili who was standing at the door. Lucky for us, it didn’t stay long. It probably just wanted to check out Python Academy, the name we call our home school.

Grandparents in Ghana

We had a great time when Grammy and Poppa came to Ghana in October. They came with a small group of 3 couples with the Pastoral Leadership Institute to help pastors of the ELCG in their leadership skills. The workshop went well, but we were most pleased with spending that special time with them. We took three days to go on vacation on the beach, do some swimming, searching for shells, playing in the surf, and just enjoying each other’s company. That was great a gift from our Creator and Sustainer.

Flood and Harvest Update

In the aftermath of the flooding in northern Ghana, we have asked you to pray that the harvest would still come even though so many fields were under water. I cannot speak for the whole area, but I know that in many cases God has answered that prayer. Many farmers have been surprised that they still have harvested some.

At the same time, the price of corn is higher now than it was a few months ago and we should be at the lowest point of the year since we just harvested. So this year, many people are likely going to struggle to find food enough to eat. We pray that God would in his mercy still provide food just as he has promised to do. Consider the birds?

Tutor Scheduled to Arrive in January

Christina Riddle has raised enough support to come in January. However, she still needs more support to cover her living expenses for the rest of her 10 month stay. Would you consider giving a special gift to help her in this area?

I can’t express enough how much I am looking forward to her arrival. Our lives as missionaries are busier than ever and teaching is taking more energy then ever, leaving very little time to engage in meaningful ways with the women in Nasuan. Please keep Christina in your prayers as there will be many cultural adjustments as well as learning the ropes in teaching Karissa. She also plans to teach some English to Ghanaians in our area.

Prayer Needs

Praise and Prayer Items.

  • Praise God for the fulfilled promise of Jesus to crush the serpent’s head!(Genesis 3:15)
  • Praise God that we had a great time visiting with Nathan?s folks in Accra in October.
  • Praise God that the PLI visit to Ghana and their interaction with the ELCG pastors was fruitful.
  • Praise God that Sarah was able to see several specialists regarding her back pains. Thankfully, prescribed medication is helping with the pain management. Continue to pray for complete healing. Read the rest of this entry »
